My first encounter with supermodel and MTV House of Style host
Molly Sims occurred in front of the bathroom mirror at Rocco's
A La Playa in the Hamptons. Amidst the chaos of a jam-packed
evening of events, the brush with Ms. Sims was a breath of fresh
air - she is unbelievably nice. Molly is a stunning beauty who
not only leaves the house without makeup, but who is also gracious
- what an unusual and intriguing creature! My second meeting
with this 25-year-old Southerner took place outdoors at Pastis.
She was accompanied by her boyfriend Stefan and her newest love
- a brand new puppy. Over lunch, Molly Sims and I share friends
in common, sisterhood in Southern sororities, and a love of
egg-white omelettes (though I devour the sinful fries while
she opts for salad). Thankfully, she possesses ONE stereotypical
model characteristic. I feel better.
aem: So, where are you from (specifically)? You're obviously
from the South.
ms: I'm from Kentucky, a place called Murray - a very small
town with about 30 - 40,000 people, and that's with a college.
I lived there 'til I was 18, [then] went to Vanderbilt for two
years, where I was pre-law. In my sophomore year, I was good
friends with a girl from Georgia who was a model with Elite
in Atlanta. She finally convinced me to do a test, though I
didnÍt know what a test was. The photographer I ended up shooting
with sent the pictures to New York. They asked if I would come
up to New York for a week to see some...next
